Composer
I initially started out as a lead guitarist in Rock bands and that of course led to composing the music in the band. Then during my time at college in the 90's, whilst studying Sound & Video Production for a year, then Music Technology for a year, it was then that my keyboard/midi and compositional skills developed.
I would listen to Soundtracks, Filmscores but preferred Classical music. Holst, Chopin, Mozart, Rachmaninov are favourites, as is Jazz, but also a deep, deep love of Spanish/Classical guitar, which resonates so much with him. I have been composing Instrumental music with Music Production Software/Midi since 2005.
My Instrumental music is varied too, with some Piano/Classical type pieces, Jazz Piano/Combo, to Electronica, orchestral-Hybrid pieces also. My composing skills still develop and I try new sounds, musical genres and styles when the mood fits the purpose.

My Acoustic guitar work/composition featured on Nairns Oatcakes special content for their online nutrition series, featuring Scottish presenter Amanda Hamilton.
This was my first attempt at composing for the visual medium, in this delightful Film Short "The Wonder of Books" by Glaswegian Filmmaker Leah Carroll (no relation).
Composer Agent
I have also acted as a Composer Agent, securing high profile Brand work for Composers in Scotland, working with TV Production companies and Creative Agencies, liaising between them and the Composer, ensuring the music reflected the brand message and product persona and the project. Music knowledge and Marketing / Advertising knowledge is crucial to be able to do this effectively, to ensure the music sits perfectly with the visuals, helping the Composer fine tune their work. Communication with Directors is also crucial as is the ability to interpret ideas from a Director / Producer, who may not have as much music knowledge to communicate the ideas of their Brief, as much as they would wish or are able to.
I worked on the two high profile Brand campaigns below, with superb Composer Owen Devlin and the respective Production Companies and Directors/Producers.
I again worked with composer Owen Devlin and helped him shape the music for the Brief for high profile Scottish Whisky brand "The Dalmore" and their new product launch for their "Quintessence" online.
